Power consumers to get Rs46 billion relief as govt introduces peak-hour load shedding schedule

Islamabad (Web Desk): The Power Division has announced a reduction in electricity prices across the country along with a new load-shedding schedule for peak hours.

According to a spokesperson for the Power Division, the government is currently facing a major challenge due to increased electricity demand during evening hours. To address this issue, a new strategy has been prepared.

Under the plan, electricity will be suspended for a total of about 2 hours and 15 minutes daily between 5:00 PM and 1:00 AM to reduce pressure on the system.

The Power Division stated that consumers have been provided relief worth Rs. 46 billion during the period from July to February. Despite rising global fuel prices, electricity rates have been reduced by 71 paisa per unit due to government reforms and improved planning.

The spokesperson further said that system improvements, relief packages, and effective strategies have made it possible to provide price relief to consumers.
