Kamchatka (Web Desk): A powerful earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale struck off the coast of Russia’s Far Eastern Kamchatka Peninsula, prompting a tsunami warning in the region.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the quake occurred 111 kilometers from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky at a depth of 39.5 kilometers. The initial magnitude was reported as 7.5 but was later revised to 7.4.

This quake hit the same region where an 8.8-magnitude earthquake struck in July, generating tsunami waves as high as 4 meters and triggering mass evacuations across the Pacific region.

Authorities are monitoring the situation closely, and residents in coastal areas have been advised to remain alert and follow safety protocols.
