Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt on Monday to attend Gaza Peace Summit on a special invitation from US President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi
The premier is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, along with Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, as members of the official delegation.
During the visit, the premier will attend the formal signing of the Gaza Peace Agreement, a landmark event that will also bring together President Donald Trump, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and other notable world leaders.
The gathering represents the outcome of months of dedicated diplomatic engagement by President Trump, PM Shehbaz, and leaders from the Arab and Islamic world, who worked intensively during the recent United Nations General Assembly to achieve a Gaza ceasefire and build a framework for enduring peace in the region.
In a previously released joint statement, the participating countries, including Pakistan, endorsed President Trump’s initiative aimed at halting hostilities in Gaza, promoting stability, and advancing regional prosperity.
PM Shehbaz Sharif’s participation in the summit reaffirms Pakistan’s consistent support for the Palestinian struggle and its commitment to offering all possible diplomatic and political backing to the Palestinian people.
Islamabad hopes that the peace talks and the signing of the Gaza Peace Agreement will end the bloodshed, ensure Israeli troop withdrawal, allow displaced Palestinians to return home safely, facilitate the release of detainees, and set the stage for reconstruction in a secure and peaceful setting.
Pakistan remains optimistic that these efforts will help fulfill the long-standing vision of lasting peace across the Middle East and eventually lead to the creation of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state, in accordance with United Nations resolutions and the aspirations of the Palestinian people, based on pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
