Islamabad (Web Desk): The security agencies have detained two crucial individuals connected to the suicide attack outside the Islamabad Judicial Complex in the G-11 area, according to officials on Thursday.
The arrests include a handler and a facilitator, signaling progress in the ongoing investigation into the deadly incident.
Officials stated that the facilitator, who had been residing in Rawalpindi for the past month, was apprehended in the city, while the handler was taken into custody in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The blast at the Islamabad District Judicial Complex claimed 12 lives and left more than 36 people injured, including lawyers and petitioners who were present at the court.
Investigators revealed that both the facilitator and the suicide bomber had scouted the Judicial Complex multiple times before carrying out the attack.
The arrested suspects have been transferred to an undisclosed location for interrogation.
This comes a day after police arrested the motorcyclist who had brought the suicide attacker to the G-11 Judicial Complex on Tuesday. Authorities said the bomber detonated explosives as he approached a police vehicle, causing nearby cars to catch fire and scattering debris across the area.
The motorcyclist, employed with an online ride-hailing service, reportedly dropped the attacker near the court, locally known as G-11 kachehri, for a fare of Rs200.
Police are continuing efforts to track the bomber’s route from Golra to the G-11 sector using Safe City surveillance cameras.
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry confirmed that the attacker was Afghan.
Initial investigations suggest he was unfamiliar with local languages and Pakistani currency.
Chaudhry noted that after arriving in Islamabad, the bomber traveled on several motorcycles and struggled to pay fares, highlighting his lack of familiarity with the city.
