Islamabad (Staff Report/Agencies): Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif will be allowed to travel abroad for medical treatment for a four-week period.

"Keeping in mind his adverse critical medical condition, Nawaz Sharif will be given four-week long, one-time permission to travel abroad for medical treatment,” said Federal Law Minister Farogh Naseem while addressing a press conference here on Wednesday.

"This permission will be subject to Nawaz Sharif or Shehbaz Sharif submitting an indemnity bond to the tune of roughly Rs7-7.5 billion to the satisfaction of additional secretary to the Ministry of Interior," the minister added.

PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said that that the conditional departure set by the government for former premier Nawaz Sharif was illegal and unlawful.

“The government is playing a dangerous game with former prime minister’s health”, she said in a tweet. “The conditional departure set by the government for the former premier was unconstitutional,” Aurangzeb added.

Meeting of the cabinet's sub-committee regarding removal of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif's name from the Exit Control List (ECL) has been postponed.

According to sources, the matter of removing Nawaz's name from the ECL remained undecided as the meeting scheduled to take place in Wednesday morning was postponed.
