Kabul (Web Desk): The Taliban regime’s flawed economic policies and weak administrative control have pushed Afghanistan to the brink of economic collapse, triggering a worsening crisis of poverty, hunger, and deprivation across the country.
According to the United Nations’ World Food Programme (WFP) has expressed deep concern over the situation in Afghanistan, warning that the supply of essential “specialised food” required for the treatment of malnourished women and children has also been badly disrupted.
The agency said obstacles in aid deliveries and a shortage of funding have placed millions of vulnerable lives at serious risk.
The latest figures released by international organisations, more than 13 million people in Afghanistan are currently facing severe food insecurity.
The report revealed that women and children are the worst affected by the crisis, with many struggling to access even basic food supplies.
Analysts say the Taliban administration’s failure to introduce a comprehensive economic strategy and its inability to establish stable economic ties with the international community are continuously adding to the hardships faced by ordinary Afghans.
They warned that unless urgent economic reforms are introduced and humanitarian assistance is restored, the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan could spiral into an even more catastrophic situation.
