9th OIC Ministerial Conference on Women continues on 2nd day

Islamabad (Web Desk): The 9th Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ministerial Conference on Women continues on second day in Islamabad on Monday where delegates are continuing discussions focused on advancing the socio-economic status and empowerment of women across the Muslim world.

Proceedings on the opening day included a number of technical sessions during which participating member states formally endorsed the conference agenda. Delegates also reviewed the progress achieved so far under the OIC Plan of Action for the Advancement of Women and exchanged views on its implementation.

Alongside the conference, Federal Minister for Law and Human Rights Azam Nazeer Tarar held a series of separate meetings with ministers and senior officials from Iran, Turkiye, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Syria, Somalia and Yemen.

He also met representatives of women's development organisations and the OIC Labour Centre to discuss cooperation and issues related to women's development within the OIC framework.
