Islamabad (Staff Report): Ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz have been shifted to Adiala jail.

Earlier, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz at Lahore Air Port following their conviction in Avenfield case.

A 16-member National Accountability Bureau (NAB) team was present to arrest the duo in the Avenfield Reference verdict.

Nawaz Sharif and daughter Maryam Nawaz were in London prior to Eid-ul-Fitr.

On Thursday, Nawaz Sharif’s wife Begum Kulsoom Nawaz regained consciousness.

“Today my mother opened her eyes the first time after one month,” Hussain Nawaz told media. “For some time her ventilator settings and sedatives were being reduced,” he added.

Begum Kulsoom had been unconscious and in critical condition after she suffered a cardiac arrest last month. She is being treated at the Harley Street Clinic in London.

“First time in 30 days, Ami opened eyes for a few seconds. Don’t know if she saw or registered us. Still not conscious and on the ventilator. Prayers solicited,” Maryam Nawaz said in tweet.

During a news conference in London on Thursday, Nawaz Sharif said he wished to see his wife opening her eyes again and requested the nation to pray for her recovery.

On July 6th, the accountability court of Islamabad awarded Mr Safdar one-year imprisonment in the case.

The court awarded ousted premier to 10 years and Maryam Nawaz to 7 years imprisonment in the Avenfield corruption reference, while Capt (retd) Safdar will also face one year jail term in the case.

Accountability Court-I Judge Mohammad Bashir announced the verdict.

Moreover, Nawaz and Maryam were also fined 8 and 2 million pounds respectively.

The court ordered to confiscate the property in question, suggesting the government to do legislation to bring plundered money back to the country.

Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Safdar have been in London to Kulsoom Nawaz, who is under medical treatment there.
