Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday said that the recent revelations by Broadsheet, a United Kingdom (UK)-based firm, have again exposed the massive scale of our ruling elite’s corruption and money-laundering.
In a series of tweets, he said that the Panama Papers exposed had earlier exposed the same people.
“These elites cannot hide behind "victimization" card on these international revelations,” PM Imran said, adding that these revelations are tip of the iceberg.
He listed down four things the "revelations" exposed repeatedly.
"We want complete transparency from Broadsheet on our elites money laundering and on who stopped investigations," the premier said.
It is pertinent to mention that asset recovery firm Broadsheet’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kaveh Moussavi claimed that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif offered them a bribe to abandon the probe against his foreign assets.
In an interview with a UK-based web channel, Iranian-born British lawyer Kaveh Moussavi said that Sharif family has assets not only in the United Kingdom but across the globe. He also criticised Nawaz for claiming that Broadsheet exonerated the Sharif family.
Moussavi said the process of accountability was continuing, but after President Musharraf left office, his successors started hampering the process by not giving access to information and termination of Broadsheet’s contract.
