Lahore (Web Desk): Lahore Traffic Police have introduced a special traffic management plan for August 13 and 14 to facilitate citizens during Independence Day celebrations and ensure smooth movement across the city.
Under the plan, traffic arrangements will be supervised by three SPs and 16 DSPs, while around 500 traffic inspectors, along with other officers and personnel, will be deployed at key locations.
Fireworks displays are scheduled at five locations across Lahore, including Greater Iqbal Park, Dolmen Mall Defence, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Adda Plot and Liberty Market. Musical programmes will also be held at Liberty Market and H Block in Defence Phase 6.
Authorities have arranged special checking and security measures at 62 locations across the city to prevent one-wheeling, reckless riding and disruptive activities during the celebrations.
Lahore Chief Traffic Officer Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi said road blockades, road rage and any activity that interferes with the flow of traffic would not be tolerated.
To keep traffic moving smoothly, all cuts on Main Boulevard Gulberg and Mall Road will remain closed during nighttime hours. Citizens have been advised to use alternative routes and follow instructions issued by traffic personnel.
The traffic police urged residents to celebrate Independence Day enthusiastically and attend public events while observing traffic regulations and taking necessary precautions for their own safety and that of others.
