Tehran (Web Desk): Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters on Thursday dismissed Washington’s assertion that it has complete control over the Strait of Hormuz, branding the claim as “baseless lies” and maintaining that the strategically important maritime passage remains firmly under Iranian control, the state media reported.
The Iranian military command, in a statement aired by state broadcaster IRIB, challenged US assertions about the normal movement of ships through the waterway, saying such claims exposed what it described as the confusion and inability of the American military.
“The false US claims regarding the normal passage of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz, which reflect the helplessness and confusion of that country’s military, are nothing but falsehoods and baseless lies,” the military command said.
The Iranian side reiterated that Tehran continues to exercise authority over the strategic waterway and remains responsible for its management.
“The Strait of Hormuz, as before, remains under the full management and control of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” the spokesperson said.
The command also issued a warning to commercial shipping, stating that vessels would not be able to safely navigate the strait without approval and oversight from Iranian forces.
“No commercial vessel or oil tanker can or will be able to transit the strait safely without the authorization and supervision of Iran’s powerful armed forces,” the spokesperson added.

Earlier, Iran’s Foreign Minister Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that the United States was repeatedly making strategic errors because of intelligence shortcomings, saying Washington’s experience during the Iran war should serve as a warning against another misjudgment over the Strait of Hormuz.
In a message posted on X on Thursday, Araghchi argued that faulty intelligence had previously contributed to US miscalculations regarding the conflict with Iran and cautioned that a similar failure could now be shaping Washington’s understanding of the strategically important waterway.
“The US has long miscalculated due to intelligence failures. Case in point: The war on Iran. Now, an even bigger miscalculation on the Strait of Hormuz,” he wrote.
“Worse than fake news is fake intelligence. Be careful,” the Iranian foreign minister warned the United States.
“Allah is Great, Greater than ANY power on Earth. In Allah we trust,” Araghchi maintained.

The Iranian leaders' statements came after US President Donald Trump’s claimed that Washington had “total control” of the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump made the statement on his Truth Social platform on Wednesday, adding, “I THINK WE WILL KEEP IT,” as tensions remained high following the US-Israeli war against Iran.
The claim came as maritime traffic through the vital passage remained severely depressed. As per Reuters, citing shipping data, only eight vessels were tracked crossing the Strait of Hormuz, marking the lowest level in a week.
The sharp decline highlights the continued reluctance of commercial operators to use the waterway amid heightened security risks and the expanded US military presence in the region.
