Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meets in Peshawar for Ramazan moon sighting

Peshawar (Web Desk): The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet in Peshawar on Tuesday (today) for sighting of Ramazan-ul-Mubarak moon.

According to details, Chairman of Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad will preside over the meeting.

The provincial and district Ruet-e-Hilal Committees will also simultaneously meet in their respective areas.

The meeting of the Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Islamabad will be held at the Ministry of Religious Affairs at Pakistan Secretariat.

Earlier, speaking to a private news channel, Maulana Azad said that said that people will observe first Roza and Eid together on the same day across the country.

“All the Ulema including Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai have created an atmosphere of brotherhood”, he said.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department said that the moon of Ramadan has risen at 7:32 am today and it will be visible for over 35 hours after the sunset.

The weather department said there is a clear possibility of a moon sighting this evening.
It is also likely to be clear or partly cloudy in most parts of the country this evening, the Met Office added.

This will be the first Ramadan moon sighting under the new chairman Maulana Azad who is also Khateeb of Badshahi Masjid in Lahore.

He was appointed by the government in December 2020, replacing Mufti Muneebur Rehman who was removed following a 23-year stint.
