Peshawar (Web Desk): Muslims across Pakistan will observe first fast on Wednesday as Ramazan moon sighted on Tuesday.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee met in Peshawar today (Tuesday) for sighting of Ramazan-ul-Mubarak moon.

Chairman of Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad presided over the meeting.

The provincial and district Ruet-e-Hilal Committees also simultaneously met in their respective areas.

For Muslims, Ramadan is the month in which the first verses of the Quran, Islam’s holy book, were revealed to the Prophet Muhammad more than 1,400 years ago.

Fasting during Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam, along with the Muslim declaration of faith, daily prayer, charity and performing the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia.
