Pakistan Stock Exchange plunges as KSE-100 index falls by 1,700 points

Karachi (Web Desk): Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed a significant decline today, with the benchmark KSE-100 index dropping by 1,700 points to close at 154,440.

According to a report by the official APP news agency, the index fell by 1,701 points, or 1.09%, ending at 154,440 points compared to the previous trading day's close of 156,141 points.

Trading volume today was 987.5 million shares, down from 1.279 billion shares traded the day before. The total value of shares traded also decreased to Rs 39.911 billion from Rs 50.207 billion in the previous session.

A total of 476 companies participated in trading, with 180 stocks gaining value, 263 declining, and 33 remaining unchanged.

It is worth noting that on September 8, the stock market had shown strong bullish momentum, with the KSE-100 index rising by 1,776 points during the session to reach a new high of 156,000 points.
