Islamabad (Web Desk): An accountability court on Thursday extended physical remand of former premier and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and former finance minister Miftah Ismail by 14 days in a liquefied natural gas (LNG) corruption case.

The PML-N leaders were presented before the court as their remand expired today and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) requested for an extension in their remand.

During today’s hearing, the investigating officer informed the court that he had brought all the records with him and on the basis of records and evidence the accountability watchdog was requesting for an extension.

NAB officials told the court that Miftah Ismail has been granted 35 days of remand till now.

To this, the PML-N leader’s lawyer told the court that his client was kept alone for 35 hours.

Miftah's lawyer opposed the request for an extension in the former finance minister's physical remand and said that the 14-day remand extension was unjust. He said that the allegations had nothing to do with the former finance minister.

The accountability court approving the extension in the physical remand of the PML-N leaders and ordered to present them on September 26.
