Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that no obstacle will be allowed to stand in the way of Pakistan’s development and prosperity.
Speaking in the National Assembly after the approval of the 27th constitutional amendment, he called on the Afghan Taliban government to take strict measures against terrorist groups using Afghan soil to launch attacks inside Pakistan.
PM Shehbaz said that foreign involvement in recent terrorist incidents in Islamabad and Wana is evident.
He emphasized that Pakistan is fully aware of these activities and will respond decisively, just as it has done in the past.
The premier warned that terrorist organizations, including the TTP and BLA, supported by external actors, will not be allowed to obstruct the country’s peace, progress, and development.
PM Shehbaz reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to peace in Afghanistan and invited the Afghan authorities to engage in sincere dialogue, assuring full cooperation for regional stability and development.
He also praised the sacrifices of Pakistan’s security forces in the fight against terrorism.
Regarding the constitutional amendment, the prime minister said that the National Assembly has shown national unity and collective resolve.
He expressed gratitude to coalition partners for their contributions and consultations throughout the process.
Highlighting the provisions of the charter of democracy, PM Shehbaz noted that the establishment of a federal constitutional court is clearly mandated.
While acknowledging the opposition’s right to express dissent, he called for an end to abusive language in politics and stressed the importance of national cohesion to advance the country’s economic growth.
The prime minister further noted that Pakistan’s international standing has improved following its success in Marka-e-Haq.
He also highlighted widespread public approval of the government’s decision to confer the title of Field Marshal on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Asim Munir, which has now been enshrined in the constitution underscoring that “nations always honour their heroes.
The National Assembly adjourned its session and will resume proceedings at 4pm on Thursday.
