Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif departed for Saudi Arabia on Thursday for a brief official visit, accepting an invitation from Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson said that Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is accompanying the premier during the visit.
During the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz is set to hold discussions with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The agenda will focus on the current tensions in the Middle East, regional security challenges, and the strengthening of Pakistan-Saudi Arabia bilateral relations.
This visit reflects Pakistan’s active and constructive approach in international diplomacy and its commitment to contributing positively to global peace and stability.
Following the outbreak of conflict in Iran—triggered by US and Israeli attacks that killed the Iranian Supreme Leader and several top officials—Pakistan has accelerated its diplomatic engagement.
PM Shehbaz and DPM Ishaq Dar have reached out to regional and Gulf leaders to help mitigate rising tensions.
Iran has retaliated with strikes on US bases and targets in Gulf countries, including the UAE and Saudi Arabia, and has also closed the Strait of Hormuz.
These actions have pushed oil prices sharply higher, with Tehran warning that global markets should be ready for crude prices potentially reaching $200 per barrel.
