Tehran (Web Desk): On the 13th day of the ongoing Middle East conflict, reports emerged of attacks and casualties across multiple countries.
In Iraq’s maritime waters, two oil tankers were targeted, while a container ship near the United Arab Emirates (UAE) also came under attack. Fire broke out at oil reserves at Oman’s Salalah port, and a drone strike in Kuwait left two people injured. Violence in Israel and Lebanon continued to claim civilian lives, with total fatalities reaching 634 and millions displaced.
In Iran, US and Israeli strikes have resulted in over 1,300 civilian deaths and 12,000 injuries, with more than 10,000 buildings destroyed. Other affected nations reported casualties as follows: Israel 13, Iraq 15, Kuwait 6, UAE 6, Saudi Arabia 2, and Oman 1.
The Saudi Ministry of Defense claimed to have neutralized 18 drones in its eastern region, including one headed toward the Shebah oil field.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized that for the conflict to end, Iran’s legitimate rights must be recognized and reparations made for incurred damages. He reiterated Iran’s commitment to regional peace while maintaining communication with leaders in Russia and Pakistan.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump stated that American forces had nearly destroyed Iran’s naval and aerial capabilities, declaring that the US has effectively won the conflict, though they are not yet ready to withdraw. Following approval to release 40 million barrels of oil via the IEA, Trump indicated expectations of falling oil prices.
According to a report by The New York Times, Iranian attacks have affected at least 17 US sites in the Middle East, including military bases in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and the UAE.
At the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), a Russian-backed ceasefire resolution failed due to a US veto.
However, a separate resolution condemning Iran’s attacks, backed by Gulf states, passed with 13 countries voting in favour, while China and Russia abstained.
