Abu Dhabi (Web Desk): The International Cricket Council (ICC) has postponed key decisions on reducing One-Day International (ODI) matches from 50 to 40 overs and expanding the World Test Championship (WTC) during its annual meeting.
According to a cricket website, the ICC Annual Conference was held in Edinburgh, Scotland, from July 8 to 11, where officials discussed a range of administrative, governance, and cricket-related matters.
The proposal to shorten ODI matches to 40 overs did not receive a final decision, while discussions on increasing the number of teams in the World Test Championship to 12 were also left unresolved.
During the meeting, the ICC decided to maintain the suspension of USA Cricket and Cricket Canada. It also approved placing France Cricket under notice.
Meanwhile, the Mauritius Cricket Federation was granted ICC Associate Membership, taking the governing body's total membership to 111.
The conference also reviewed several proposals aimed at shaping the future of international cricket. However, major reforms, including changes to the ODI format and the expansion of the World Test Championship, will require further consultation before any final decisions are made.
