Islamabad (Web Desk): Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry on Friday hailed the decision concerning former Lt General Faiz Hameed as a milestone, saying it has sent a clear message that the law makes no distinctions between individuals.
Addressing a press conference, he said the move has strengthened the tradition of internal accountability within the Pakistan Armed Forces and helped rebuild public faith in the institution.
He said Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir has demonstrated through this decision that no one enjoys immunity from the law. According to the minister, Faiz Hameed used his official position to pursue personal preferences, alleging that he played a role in toppling and forming governments under the pretext of safeguarding national interest.
Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry warned that “when you use a state office for political engineering, there will be consequences,” adding that fabricated and unlawful cases were lodged against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders at Faiz Hameed’s direction.
He accused the former general’s partnership with Imran Khan of creating political chaos in the country and attempting—though unsuccessfully—to create divisions within the Pakistan Armed Forces.
The minister urged Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to move away from what he called its harmful political approach, remarking that Imran Khan and his party now treat Adiala Jail as if it were their headquarters.
He criticized Imran Khan’s activity on X, claiming the account continues to spread hostility toward state institutions.
The minister praised Field Marshal General Asim Munir for leading the armed forces to notable achievements in Operation Bunyan al-Marsus.
He added that Pakistan is making steady progress on the diplomatic front but regretted that one political party remains engaged in spreading negative propaganda against the state.
Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said that a convicted individual in jail continues to hurl accusations at the Pakistan Armed Forces, and emphasized that countering such narratives is a shared responsibility of all Pakistanis
Turning to regional matters, he said Pakistan wants peaceful ties with Afghanistan but expects that Afghan territory will not be allowed to facilitate terrorism against Pakistan.
He also criticized the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) for opposing the ongoing counter-terrorism operation in the province.
