Islamabad (Web Desk): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Wednesday strongly condemned the Houthi attack on a civilian commercial ship in the Red Sea that resulted in the deaths of three Pakistani nationals and left another injured.
The incident involved the Tanzania-flagged vessel Tihamah, which came under attack while carrying out commercial operations, resulting in fatalities and injuries among its crew. Three Pakistani crew members were killed, while an Indonesian national also lost his life in the attack.
“I have learnt with deep concern about the unfortunate incident involving an attack on a commercial vessel in the Red Sea…Pakistan strongly condemns the Houthi attack on a non-combatant commercial vessel,” DPM Dar said in a post on his X account, while expressing his profound sympathies to the families who lost their loved ones.

He stressed that attacks of this nature put the lives of civilians at grave risk, amounted to a breach of international law, and created a significant danger to freedom of navigation, maritime safety and the secure movement of commercial vessels through the Red Sea.
DPM Dar said that the Pakistani government was coordinating with the relevant Saudi authorities as well as the internationally recognised Yemeni government to gather complete information about the incident and determine the circumstances surrounding the attack.
The deputy prime minister also instructed Pakistan’s Embassy in Riyadh to immediately engage with the concerned authorities and take all necessary steps to facilitate the recovery and repatriation of the remains of the Pakistani nationals who were killed.
He further directed that every possible form of assistance be extended to the Pakistani national who sustained injuries.
“We are closely following the situation and will continue to remain in close contact with the concerned authorities,” DPM Dar added.
