Hyderabad (Web Desk): Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has stated that terrorist organizations are targeting innocent civilians and laborers in the country, and that banned outfits like the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and the Majeed Brigade are receiving support from India.
He emphasized that such groups should be proscribed at the international level, including by the United Nations (UN).
Speaking to the media during the inauguration of Khan Bahadur Hassan Ali Effendi Park in Hyderabad, Bilawal Bhutto welcomed the United States’ decision to designate the BLA and the Majeed Brigade as terrorist organizations.
He said this move reflects global acknowledgment of Pakistan’s longstanding position on the matter and constitutes a significant diplomatic achievement for the country.
“These groups have a documented history of attacking innocent citizens and have openly supported the Modi government during recent episodes of Pakistan-India tensions,” Bilawal said.
The PPP chairman also strongly criticized India’s water policies, accusing the Modi-led government of repeatedly attempting to violate the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT).
He stressed that the Indus River is a vital lifeline for the people of Pakistan, and India must adhere to its treaty obligations by ensuring Pakistan receives its rightful share of water.
Bilawal urged the entire nation to unite on this crucial issue, declaring it a matter of survival for millions of Pakistanis that demands a unified national response.
Expressing concern over growing water scarcity, he said that global water shortages highlight the need for Pakistan to reevaluate its agricultural strategies.
Bilawal advocated for the adoption of modern techniques such as drip irrigation to minimize water wastage and improve efficiency in the agriculture sector.
Speaking about the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award, the PPP chief stated that the Constitution mandates a new NFC Award every five years, but the current government is delaying it unnecessarily.
He said that the provinces should not be penalized for the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) failures, adding that bureaucrats in Islamabad must not shift the burden of their incompetence onto the provinces.
Addressing reports about the 27th constitutional amendment, he clarified that neither the government nor any political party has formally approached the PPP on the matter.
He dismissed the circulating media reports as mere speculation and rumours, reaffirming that no official communication had taken place regarding the proposed amendment.
