Islamabad (Web Desk): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar on Sunday reaffirmed that Pakistan will remain actively involved in promoting communication and understanding between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States (US), continuing its efforts to support dialogue in the days ahead.
The deputy prime minister stated this following the conclusion of 21-hour high stake US-Iran talks that ended without reaching any agreement.
DPM Dar conveyed heartfelt thanks to both Iran and the US for positively responding to the appeal issued by PM Shehbaz, who had called for an immediate ceasefire in the region, and for accepting his invitation to participate in peace discussions in Islamabad.
He added the American delegation, led by Vice President JD Vance, and the Iranian side, headed by Bagher Ghalibaf, had arrived in Pakistan a day earlier to take part in the negotiations.
Dar explained that he, together with Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir helped mediate several rounds of intense and constructive negotiations between the two sides, that continued through the last 24 hours and ended this morning.
Speaking on behalf of Pakistan, expressed gratitude to the two sides for appreciating Islamabad’s efforts to help achieve the ceasefire and its mediatory role.
He also voiced optimism that this constructive approach would continue, paving the way for sustained peace and stability in the region and beyond, while emphasizing the need for both sides to stay committed to upholding the ceasefire.
