Lahore (Web Desk): The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain in several parts of the country from tomorrow through September 17, with thunderstorms and heavy showers expected at some locations.
According to the weather department, monsoon currents are entering the upper parts of the country, bringing chances of rain accompanied by thunderstorms in various areas.
Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Jhelum and Chakwal are likely to receive rainfall, while isolated areas may experience heavy downpours and hailstorms.
Intermittent rain is also expected in different parts of Azad Kashmir, including Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad and Rawalakot. Several areas of Gilgit-Baltistan are also likely to receive thunderstorms and rain through September 17.
In Punjab, rain is forecast from September 14 to 17 in Lahore, Sialkot, Sheikhupura, Narowal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Wazirabad, Kasur, Okara and Nankana Sahib, among other areas. Some parts of the province may also witness heavy rainfall and hail.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is expected to receive intermittent rain from tomorrow until September 17. Peshawar, Dir, Chitral, Swat, Malakand, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Swabi, Shangla, Battagram, Buner and Kohat are among the areas likely to be affected.
In Sindh, rainfall is expected between September 13 and 16 in Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Mirpurkhas and Tharparkar. Umerkot, Badin, Karachi and adjoining areas may also experience intermittent thunderstorms and rain.
Parts of Balochistan, including Zhob, Barkhan, Musa Khel and surrounding areas, are also likely to receive rain from September 13 to 16.
The Meteorological Department has warned of possible urban flooding in low-lying areas of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Faisalabad and Lahore due to the expected rainfall.
There is also a risk of landslides in mountainous areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galiyat and Kashmir, the department cautioned.
