Jakarta (Web Desk): A strong earthquake of magnitude 6.2 jolted parts of Indonesia, triggering panic among residents and prompting many people to leave their homes.
According to international media reports, the earthquake occurred at a depth of around 143 kilometres beneath the Earth’s surface. The tremors were felt in several areas, causing concern among residents.
Authorities have launched assessments to determine whether the earthquake caused any damage. However, no casualties or major property damage have been reported so far.
Officials said the earthquake’s considerable depth reduces the likelihood of widespread destruction, although the situation continues to be monitored.
Indonesia is located in one of the world’s most seismically active regions and has experienced devastating earthquakes and tsunamis in the past. Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious and follow safety measures in case of possible aftershocks.
