Islamabad (Web Desk): The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Thursday brought together ambassadors and senior diplomats from more than thirty foreign missions at its National Emergencies Operations Center (NEOC) in Islamabad.
The session was designed to inform the diplomatic community about the humanitarian crisis and infrastructural damage caused by the ongoing monsoon season, while also presenting the scope of NDMA’s relief operations and national resource mobilization.
Envoys and representatives from several key nations, including Turkiye, Australia, Russia, Germany, Japan, Canada, South Africa, Poland, and Ireland, participated in the briefing, with Pakistan’s missions worldwide joining virtually. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was also present at the meeting.
NDMA officials delivered a detailed account of the ongoing relief and rescue activities across the flood-affected regions.
Chairman NDMA, Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, in his remarks, emphasized the authority’s joint efforts with provincial and regional disaster management institutions, the distribution of relief supplies, and the use of advanced technology for weather tracking and timely intervention.
Other departments of NDMA also elaborated on their contributions to addressing the monsoon emergency.
Diplomats were briefed on NDMA’s forward-looking strategy to lessen the impact of the monsoon by strengthening integrated response systems, deploying modern early warning mechanisms, and enhancing coordination with all stakeholders.
The participants praised NDMA’s initiatives, recognizing them as essential for protecting communities, saving livelihoods, and reinforcing Pakistan’s ability to withstand climate-related challenges.
