Islamabad (Web Desk): United States Chargé d’Affaires Natalie A. Baker met with Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar to discuss areas of mutual interest, with a focus on strengthening bilateral ties and exploring collaboration in the digital media sector.

During the meeting, Baker commended Pakistan’s pivotal role in the global fight against terrorism and noted that the country’s economy is showing positive signs of recovery and sustainable growth.

Tarar reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to counterterrorism, emphasizing that the nation’s sacrifices have contributed significantly to global peace and stability.

He explained that the government has introduced a comprehensive framework to curb misinformation and promote digital transformation, stressing the need for broader recognition of these initiatives to maintain their impact and encourage public participation.

The minister also drew attention to Pakistan’s rich natural beauty, diverse culture, and historical landmarks, describing them as major strengths for promoting tourism.

He said that the development of the tourism sector would not only boost the economy but also enhance cultural and people-to-people exchanges with other nations. Tarar added that the government is actively implementing policies aimed at positioning Pakistan as an attractive destination on the global tourism map.

The information minister further revealed that new legislation is being prepared to strengthen the rights and welfare of journalists in Pakistan. Natalie Baker appreciated these efforts, acknowledging the government’s commitment to ensuring a safe and supportive environment for media professionals.
