Kabul: Afghanistan was hit by 6.3 magnitude earthquake again on Wednesday morning, just days after a series of deadly quakes claimed more than 2,400 lives in the country.

According to US Geological Survey (USGS) the earthquake, measuring 6.3 in magnitude, struck an area 28 km away from city Herat, the capital of Herat province, early on Wednesday morning 05:10 local time.

According to health authorities, over 100 individuals sustained injuries and were transported to hospitals, and a landslide has blocked the main Herat-Torghundi highway.
The office of Herat’s governor said there had been “huge losses” in districts near areas that had been flattened by earlier quakes.
The earlier earthquakes completely occurred in the same area and destroyed at least 11 villages in Herat province's Zenda Jan district, according to the United Nations.
