Washington (Web Desk): After a 41-day government shutdown, the U.S. Senate has approved the annual spending bill, restoring government operations.
According to U.S. media reports, the bill was passed in the Senate with 60 votes in favor and 40 votes against, with 8 members of the opposition Democratic Party also supporting the bill. This approval has paved the way for ending the shutdown and resuming government functions.
The report further states that the bill still needs to receive final approval from the House of Representatives, where the Republican Party holds control.
The prolonged shutdown, which lasted for 41 days, left millions of U.S. federal employees working without pay, suspended food aid programs, and severely disrupted domestic air travel.
