Security forces kill 23 more terrorists in ongoing Operation Shaban in Balochistan

Quetta (Web Desk): Security forces killed 23 more terrorists during the ongoing operations in Balochistan, security sources confirmed on Saturday.

According to security sources, seven Khwarij were killed by the security forces in their continued joint Operation Shaban in Balochistan, bringing the tally of Khwarij killed in the operation to 64.

Beforere this, security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) near the N-25 crossing in Balochistan killing two terrorists.

Weapons, hand grenades, a motorcycle, mobile phones, flags of the banned outfit, and other equipment were recovered from the terrorists.

Earlier, the security sources stated that the number of militants eliminated under Operation Shaban has climbed to 64, according to the sources.

They said security forces are continuing both ground offensives and aerial strikes against Fitna al Khwarij across the region as part of the ongoing campaign.

The sources have further stated that since July 5, a total of 102 terrorists have been neutralised in Operation Shaban as well as other intelligence-based operations (IBOs) conducted by security forces.

On Friday, security sources said that a joint operation by Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC) and police has been in progress in Quetta's Shaban area since July 5, targeting militants responsible for the brutal attack on the police post at the Mangi Dam pumping station that claimed the lives of 27 police personnel.

According to the officials, the assailants initially martyred nine policemen, including two station house officers (SHOs), before forcibly taking 18 others hostage.

The kidnapped officers were later executed, and their bodies were recovered from the mountainous Zarghoon Gar region.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the Pakistan Army, Balochistan Frontier Corps and police after security forces eliminated nine additional militants during Operation Shaban.

Lauding the personnel for their "unwavering resolve and bravery", Naqvi said the successful operation had frustrated the enemy's malicious plans.

"The sacrifices and successes of the forces for the sake of peace in Balochistan are a golden chapter in history. Terrorists are a burden on the country and the nation," he said.

The interior minister also reaffirmed that those threatening the country's peace "will not find a place to hide anywhere".

Meanwhile, Balochistan Chief Minister's Adviser on Information and Political Affairs Shahid Rind announced that, on the direction of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, Rs11.1 million had been approved as financial assistance for the families of the police personnel martyred in the Mangi Dam attack.

He said that the chief minister had directed authorities to complete all administrative and financial requirements on an urgent basis to ensure the compensation was released without delay.

Rind added that the provincial government would continue to stand with the bereaved families, guarantee their welfare and bear the educational expenses of the martyrs' children.

On Thursday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the country's civilian and military leadership had reached a unified decision to eradicate terrorism following a string of major militant attacks in Balochistan.

The prime minister made the remarks while chairing a meeting of the Provincial Apex Committee on the National Action Plan in Quetta, attended by Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence (CDF) Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir.

Addressing the meeting, PM Shehbaz said, "One thing is decided: it is a mutual and singular decision of the civil and military leadership that we must end terrorism collectively."

According to the military's spokesperson, at least 42 people have lost their lives in the terrorist attacks and subsequent security operations carried out since July 5. The casualties include four civilians, 27 police personnel and 11 members of the security forces.
