Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday expressed deep sorrow over the terrorist attack at Tarlai Imambargah last week and extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives.
He offered Fateha for the departed souls and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
Acknowledging the irreplaceable loss of life, the prime minister announced financial assistance for the victims. Shaheed Oun Abbas, who bravely confronted the suicide attacker, will receive Rs10 million, while Rs5 million has been allocated for each martyr, Rs3 million for those severely wounded, and Rs 1 million for victims with minor injuries.
During his visit to Imambargah Khadijatul Kubra in Tarlai Kalan, where the attack took place, PM Shehbaz met the bereaved families and survivors.
Speaking with them, he emphasized the nation’s shared grief over the tragic loss of elders, children, and young people, many of whom were also injured in the attack.
PM Shehbaz described the incident as a heinous act of barbarity that no condemnation could ever fully capture.
He lauded the unity of religious scholars and ulema, who collectively denounced the attack, and paid tribute to Shaheed Oun Abbas, whose courage and selfless sacrifice would be remembered with honour.
The prime minister stressed that such bravery in the fight against terrorism would not go unrewarded and noted that efforts to spread discord within society had failed.
He also commended the armed forces, police, and law enforcement agencies for their tireless work in combating terrorism, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan, praising their sacrifices and reaffirming the nation’s gratitude.
Later, PM Shehbaz visited the residence of Shaheed Oun Abbas to offer Fateha and personal condolences to the family.
The prime minister was accompanied by federal ministers, as well as police and district administration officials, who briefed him on the details of the attack.
