Islamabad (Web Desk): Defense Minister Khawaja Asif strongly criticized a statement made by the Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Mahmood Khan Achakzai regarding the Pakistan Army.
Speaking in the National Assembly, Asif described Achakzai’s remark that "Pakistan’s army belongs only to four districts" as highly irresponsible and entirely inappropriate.
The minister expressed regret that such a statement could come from a politician of Achakzai’s stature.
Khawaja Asif emphasized that the Pakistan Army does not belong to any specific province or district, but to the entire nation.
The defence minister highlighted the army’s daily sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, noting that more than 200 terrorists have been killed in operations in Balochistan.
He urged politicians to respect the sacrifices of the armed forces rather than engaging in struggles for personal interests or political power.
Asif remarked that while political opinions can change, the martyrs of the army have never compromised on their principles.
The minister also pointed out that people in different parts of Pakistan are sometimes targeted based on identity documents, but such incidents have never been politicized along provincial lines.
Challenging Achakzai’s statement, Khawaja Asif said that if anyone possesses data to support it, they should present it to prove the claim wrong.
