Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has stressed the need to draw inspiration from the peaceful coexistence and harmony shown by Pakistan’s minority communities, saying that strengthening these values is essential for the country’s continued progress and development.
He expressed these views while speaking at a ceremony held at the Prime Minister’s Office in Islamabad on Tuesday to observe National Minorities Day.
The prime minister called for greater attention to contemporary education and the development of practical skills.
He said the government and society must work together to improve opportunities in key areas, particularly healthcare, education and the empowerment of young people.
PM Shehbaz said Pakistan’s Christian, Hindu, Parsi and Sikh communities had long been living together peacefully and had contributed to maintaining a united and harmonious social fabric.
He added that members of these communities continue to make valuable contributions to the country’s advancement.
Recognising their longstanding services, the prime minister recalled that members of minority communities had stood alongside Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah during the struggle for the establishment of Pakistan.
He also paid tribute to distinguished personalities such as Jogendra Nath Mandal and Cecil Chaudhry, acknowledging their contributions to the country.
PM Shehbaz highlighted the important role played by members of minority communities in various wars fought to defend Pakistan, praising their commitment and sacrifices for the motherland.
