Islamabad (Web Desk): Bahrain has welcomed the signing of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, with Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani conveying his congratulations to Pakistan during a telephone conversation with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Tuesday, the Foreign Office (FO) said on Tuesday.

The landmark defence pact was signed on August 7 by Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye to enhance collective security and strengthen deterrence among the three countries.

The agreement provides that an attack on any one of its members would be regarded as an attack on all signatories.

According to a statement shared on X, FO said that FM Al Zayani spoke with Dar last night and congratulated Pakistan on the trilateral agreement.

During the conversation, the Bahraini foreign minister also expressed his desire to visit Pakistan in the near future.

DPM Dar welcomed the proposed visit and thanked his Bahraini counterpart for his positive remarks regarding the agreement.

The FO added that during the call DPM Dar "reiterated Pakistan’s firm commitment to promoting dialogue and diplomacy to achieve peace and stability in the region and beyond."
