Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 1,080,360 on after 4,856 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.
Overall 401,790 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 365,824 in Punjab, 149,056 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 31,234 in Balochistan, 91,217 in Islamabad, 8,876 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 27,507 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
As per the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data, 64,690 tests were conducted in last 24 hours while positivity ratio remained 7.50%.
According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 24,085 with 81 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.
Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 972,098 after another 5,025 virus recoveries were reported.
Meanwhile, the NCOC has issued special instructions for managing Muharram-ul-Harram activities under COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) to contain spread of the disease.
The NCOC guidelines underline that all Muharram gatherings and processions would be held in ventilated and open spaces under COVID-19 SOPs.
“Use of face masks, social distancing, thermal screening during religious processions will be ensured by the administration of that event,” the guidelines said.
“Private gatherings at homes will be discouraged. Sanitizers and masks would be provided at the venues of the gatherings and processions,” the NCOC added.
The Corona SOPs would be prominently displayed during rallies and processions throughout Muharram.
It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 204.813 million and death toll tops 4,327,356.
