Karachi (Web Desk): The 43rd death anniversary of renowned playback singer Ahmed Rushdi was observed on Saturday.
Ahmed Rushdi was born on 24 April 1934 in Hyderabad Deccan and migrated to Pakistan after the partition of the subcontinent. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential and versatile playback singers in South Asian music history.
During his illustrious career, he recorded around 5,000 songs for 583 films in multiple languages, including Urdu, English, Punjabi, Bengali, Sindhi, and Gujarati, showcasing his exceptional vocal range and versatility.
In recognition of his outstanding contribution to music, he was posthumously awarded the Sitara-e-Imtiaz in 2003.
Ahmed Rushdi passed away on this day in 1983 in Karachi.
