Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday affirmed Pakistan's sincere resolve to continue its mediatory role to maintain its mediating efforts its role as a mediator to build momentum towards achieving meaningful outcomes in the ongoing Islamabad Talks.
He said this during a meeting with an Iranian delegation, as the talks formally began with the objective of negotiating a peace deal with the United States.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the Iranian side was headed by Speaker Bagher Ghalibaf, with Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also part of the delegation.
From Pakistan side, the meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir, along with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
“Appreciating Iran’s engagement in the ‘Islamabad Talks', the prime minister affirmed Pakistan’s sincere resolve to continue playing its role as a mediator to help build momentum towards achieving meaningful results in the interest of regional and global peace and stability,” the statement said.
