PM Shehbaz receives guard of honour at Belarus Independence Palace

Minsk (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday was given a guard of honour at the Independence Palace of Belarus where he arrived to meet President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko.

As the prime minister arrived at the venue of the formal welcome reception, he was warmly received by President Lukashenko.

The national anthems of Pakistan and Belarus were played as both the prime minister and the Belarusian president stood at the salute dais.

Earlier on Thursday night, President Alexander Lukashenko hosted a dinner at his farm house in in honour of President Pakistan Muslim League(N) Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also attended the dinner.

President Lukashenko expressed extraordinary warmth for prime minister Shehbaz Sharif and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

The prime minister thanked President Lukashenko for the warm welcome and hospitality.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Minsk on a two-day official visit to Belarus from April 10 to 11, 2025, at the invitation of President Aleksandr Lukashenko.

During his visit, the prime minister will hold talks with President Lukashenko to review progress in areas of mutual interest.

The two sides are likely to sign several agreements to further strengthen cooperation.

Over the past six months, a series of high-level bilateral engagements including the 8th Session of the Joint Ministerial Commission in February this year have laid the groundwork for a productive visit.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit underscores a strong and ongoing partnership between Pakistan and Belarus.

The visit follows Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko 's official trip to Pakistan in November 2024.
