Peshawar (Web Desk): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has reached Peshawar from Islamabad, hours after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) claimed that several leaders of the party were arrested in the federal capital during midnight raids.

The other party leaders reportedly said that they were not able to contact CM Gandapur amid raids conducted against the party’s top brass.

They said that Gandapur was missing for hours but he reconnected with party leaders after mysterious disappearance.

According to reports, Ali Amin Gandapur traveled from Islamabad to Peshawar late last night and is scheduled for several meetings in provincial capital today. Although there were initial concerns about his arrest, KP CM's Adviser Barrister Saif’s earlier claims have been clarified.

Later, other party leaders linked communication disruption to jammer encountered during Gandapur’s travel.

The concerns came as the federal government launched a fresh crackdown against the PTI leadership for violating Peaceful Assembly and Public Order Bill, 2024, and arrested party Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan, lawmaker Sher Afzal Marwat from outside the Parliament House.

Meanwhile, several other party leaders who have been arrested include Zain Qureshi, Sheikh Waqas Akram, Naseem-ur-Rehman, Zubair Khan and Shoaib Shaheen.

Cases have been filed against several PTI leaders under the newly-enacted law, at the Noon Village and Sangjani police stations.

At least 28 local leaders including Seemabia Tahir and Raja Basharat were also nominated in the cases.

As per the first information report (FIR), the PTI workers nominated in the case attacked police teams with batons and pelted them with stones when officers tried to stop them from violating the Islamabad rally's route.
