Lahore (Web Desk): Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas on Friday announced that all the public and private schools in Punjab will remain closed till September 15.
In a post on Twitter, the minister wrote, “All Public and Private Schools of Punjab to remain closed until Wednesday, September 15th, 2021.” He urged the residents to stay home and stay safe.
The announcement comes a day after the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) extended restrictions in 24 high-risk districts amid the worsening situation of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Punjab's schools were closed down from September 6 for six days and were scheduled to reopen on September 13.
On the other hand, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 1,197,887 on Friday after 3,689 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.
As per the NCOC data, 61,128 tests were conducted in last 24 hours while positivity ratio remained 6.03%.
According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 26,497 with 84 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.
Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 1,079,867 after another 3,755 virus recoveries were reported.
