Islamabad (Web Desk): In a major step toward Pakistan’s digital transformation, global technology giant Amazon is set to launch Project Kuiper’s satellite broadband services in the country next year.
Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja met with a delegation from Project Kuiper to discuss the rollout of advanced and high-speed internet services in Pakistan. According to the Ministry of IT, this initiative is expected to bring a significant shift in Pakistan’s digital landscape.
Project Kuiper, which is based on Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite technology, aims to provide high-speed internet access across Pakistan by the end of 2026. The multibillion-dollar global project seeks to deliver fast internet to even the most remote areas of the world where connectivity is currently limited or nonexistent.
Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja stated that this project marks an important milestone in promoting digital inclusion and strengthening the country’s connectivity ecosystem. She added that it aligns with the government’s vision of “Digital Nation Pakistan,” which aims to provide every citizen with fast, affordable, and secure internet access — regardless of their location.
Under Project Kuiper, 3,236 satellites will be deployed in orbit, offering users speeds of up to 400 megabits per second (Mbps) through low-cost internet terminals. This is expected to significantly enhance the speed and quality of internet services in Pakistan.
