Hyderabad, India (Web Desk) Sri Lanka on Tuesday set 345-run target for Pakistan in the ICC Men's One-Day International (ODI) World Cup 2023 match being played at Indian Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium.
Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss, decided to bat first against Pakistan and scored 344 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in alloted 50 overs.
Despite losing Kusal Parera early, Sri Lankan batsmen continued scoring at a brisk pace to put the Green shirts on back foot.
Kusal Mendis and Sadeera Samarawickrama scored hudreds and Nissanka chipped in with a fifty to take the team score close to 350 runs mark.
Kusal Mendis scored 122 runs, Sadeera Samarawickrama 108 and Nissanka 51 runs.
Hassan Ali bagged four wickets, Haris Rauf two and Shadab Khan, Shaheen Afridi and Muhammad Nawaz took one wicket each.
Pakistan have made a change as Fakhar Zaman has been dropped and Abdullah Shafique has replaced the left-handed opener.
Sri Lanka have also made one change and Theekshana comes in for Kasun Rajitha.
It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan started their world cup run with first win against Netherlands by 81 runs at the same venue in India's Hyderabad.
The Green Shirts secured first win by defending their 287-run target with help of pacers duo Hassan Ali who dismissed two Dutch batsmen and Harris Rauf who took 3 wickets.
