President, PM felicitate Mojtaba Khamenei on assuming office as Iran's Supreme Leader

Islamabad (Web Desk): President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have felicitated Mojtaba Khamenei on assuming responsibilities as the Supreme Leader of Iran.

In their separate messages, the president and the premier also conveyed condolences on the martyrdom of Mojtaba Khamenei's revered father, the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

President Zardari remarked that the region is currently experiencing significant tension and conflict.

He expressed hope that stability would soon be restored and that conditions would improve for the people living in the region.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a letter to the new Supreme Leader on Tuesday, reaffirmed Pakistan’s determination to maintain close collaboration with Iran.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), he congratulated Mojtaba Khamenei on his appointment and conveyed his optimism that the new leader would guide his country toward peace, stability, and prosperity.

The premier also offered condolences on the martyrdom of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, noting that his death had deeply affected the people of Pakistan, who stand united with Iran’s leadership and citizens in this difficult time.

He expressed confidence that the new Supreme Leader would lead Iran toward a future of peace, dignity, and progress.

PM Shehbaz highlighted the strong historical and cultural connections between the two nations, emphasizing that Pakistan and Iran share common faith, history, culture, and language.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to working closely with Iran to strengthen bilateral cooperation across all areas of mutual interest for the benefit of both peoples.

In his letter, the prime minister prayed for the health and success of Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, as well as for peace, stability, and prosperity for the Iranian people.

PM Shehbaz also publicly conveyed his congratulations on X, stating, “I congratulate his Eminence Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei on his assumption of the responsibilities of Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
