Lahore (Web Desk): An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore on Monday framed revised charges against several key members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in connection with three separate cases stemming from the violent incidents on May 9, 2023.

The charges, which included the attack on Askari Tower, the burning of police vehicles near Jinnah House and Zaman Park, and the destruction of the Shadman Police Station, were presented in a session at Kot Lakhpat Jail, where the detained PTI leaders such as Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Dr. Yasmin Rashid were brought before the court.

PTI social media activist Sanam Javed, Khadija Shah, and other accused individuals currently out on bail also appeared and marked their attendance.

During the hearing, the court formally framed the amended charges against the accused, all of whom rejected the accusations and made it clear that they intended to contest the charges in court.

The prosecution had earlier successfully requested the amendment of the charges, which are now officially part of the legal proceedings.

Following the hearing, the court ordered the prosecution to present its witnesses at the next hearing, scheduled for March 13, when their testimonies will be recorded.

In addition, the court has announced plans to address the charges related to the torching of Shadman Police Station in the next hearings, where amended charges against the accused, including PTI leaders, are expected to be framed.
