Renowned poet, writer Amjad Islam Amjad passes away in Lahore

Lahore (Web Desk): Renowned poet playwright, educationist, columnist and literary critic Amjad Islam Amjad passed away in Lahore after suffering a heart attack, his family sources said on Friday.

He was 78.

Amjad was born on August 4, 1944 in Lahore. He did his Maters in Urdu from University of Punjab in 1967. In 1968, he was appointed as lecturer of Urdu in the MAO College Lahore.

Some of his famous dramas include Waris, Samandur, Dehleez, Din, Raat, Waqt, Fishaar, Inkaar and many more.

Amjad Islam Amjad has been a vital part of the literary world. He is the author of more than 40 books in a career spanning 50 years.

His famous poetic works include, Satvan Dar, Fishar, Itne Khwab Kahan Rakhun Gaa, Baarish Ki Awaz, Phir Yun Huwa, Zindagi Ke Meley Mein, Nazdeek, Yahin Kahin, and Sapne Baat Nahi Karte.

The literary icon of Pakistan also translated poems of the African poets in Urdu called Kale Logon ki Roshan Nazmein.

Amjad Islam Amjad is also the recipient of Pride of Performance, Sitara-e-Imtiaz and many other awards for his literary works and TV dramas.
