Punjab govt lifts all COVID-19 restrictions

Lahore (Staff Report/Agencies): The Punjab government on Monday announced to lift all restrictions ending the smart lockdown, imposed to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19), across the province.

“With the exception of wedding halls, all business centres have been opened from today (Monday),” provincial health secretary said. “Religious gatherings will be subject to the permission of the concerned administration and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs),” he added.

However, the official warned that the danger has not been averted yet and requested the people to remain cautious.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Tourism Department (PTD) has issued a notification comprising 14 precautionary guidelines.

The total number of recovered COVID-19 patients in Pakistan reached 260,764 on Monday after another 516 virus recoveries were reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 284,660 after 539 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country.

Overall, 123,849 cases were reported in Sindh, 94,477 in Punjab, 34,692 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 11,906 in Balochistan, 15,261 in Islamabad, 2,334 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 2,141 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's Covid-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached 6,097 with 15 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.
