Jhelum (Staff Report): Five honourable judges disqualified 200 million people elected prime minister, says Nawaz Sharif.

“Not just me but 200 million people had been disqualified [by the top court’s verdict],” Nawaz said while addressing his supporters in Jhelum on Thursday. “I am pursing the case of Pakistani masses, not mine,” he added.

“Do you accept the court’s decision? Did you not vote for me as your prime minister? I have come out onto the streets with a case against your disqualification,” he told them from inside his armoured vehicle.

“There are no allegations of corruption against me,” he reiterated. “The honourable judges sent me home. Do you agree with their decision?” he asked.

Nawaz Sharif expressed that he was punished for putting Pakistan back on track to progress.

PML-N’s Saad Rafique announced Nawaz Sharif will resume his journey towards hometown Lahore tomorrow (Friday) at 10:00 am, after an overnight stay at Jhelum.

Nawaz Sharif’s so called ‘homecoming’ rally begun the 2nd day as he departed Rawalpindi and reached Jhelum.

Though the former premier's convoy took time to cross Katcheri Chowk, Rawalpindi, once through, it whizzed out of the garrison city, crossing Rawat and the GT Road towns that follow.

On Wednesday, Nawaz Sharif set out from Punjab House, Islamabad after deciding to go home to Lahore via the GT Road earlier.

Prior to his departure, Nawaz held a meeting with top party leaders, including Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal and AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider.

Special arrangements have been made to ensure the smooth flow of rally from Kacheri Chowk, along the GT Road, to Rawat's T-Chowk. Arrangements have been made for commuters to use alternative roads once the rally is under way, claimed the police.
