Pakistan arrived at Edgbaston with the three-match series already slipping away from them, sitting 2-0 down after England dominated the opening two Tests at Headingley and Lord’s.
The first Test ended in emphatic fashion as England wrapped up an innings-and-103-run victory inside three days. After piling up 409 in their first innings, England’s bowlers dismissed Pakistan for 171 before skittling them out for 135 in the second innings.
The second Test at Lord’s brought another tough outing for Pakistan, with England completing a 194-run triumph. The home team made 290 in their first innings and then bowled Pakistan out for only 110.
England extended their advantage in the second innings by adding 208 runs, setting Pakistan a daunting target of 389.
The visitors were unable to withstand the pressure, eventually losing all their wickets for 194 and handing England a commanding 2-0 lead in the series.
