Karachi (Web Desk): In the first One Day International (ODI) of three match series, South African women team defeated Pakistan women by 127 runs on Friday at National Stadium in Karachi.
South African team won the toss and chose to bat first against the hosts. Porteas women set the target of 293 runs in 50 overs on the loss of only 4 wickets.
While batting first, the South Africans lost early wickets as they were 64-3 in just 9.1 overs, with captain Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits scoring only 17 runs each, Lara Goodall scored only 15 runs before Aliya Raza got her wicket
Sune Luus and Marizanne Kapp hit 183-run partnership for the fourth wicket helped South Africa put 292 on the board. Luss hit 107 runs off 129 and Kapp played 100 runs off 125 balls and were the top scorers for their sides.
From Pakistan side, Nashra Sundhu took two wickets while Umme Hani and Aliya Riaz bagged one each.
Later while chasing the target of 293, green shirts kept on losing wickets at intervals and never really managed to build a long partnership as they were soon all-out for just 165 runs.
Aliya Raza, whose impressive performance win us T2OI series, was top-scorer for the home side with 49 runs off 58 balls. During her innings, she also completed her 1000 ODI runs.
From South African side, Nadine de Klerk and Nonkululeko Mlaba got three wickets each while Ayabonga Khaka and Delmari Tucker took one wicket each.
Marizanne Kapp was Player of the match for her magnificent century.
