Rawalpindi (Web Desk): A Pakistan Army major was martyred and seven terrorists were killed during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) by security in Daraban area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) Dera Ismail (DI) Khan district, the military’s media wing said on Thursday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), 0n 8 October 8, 2025, security forces conducted an intelligence based operation in general area Daraban, Dera Ismail Khan District, on reported presence of Khwarij belonging to Indian Proxy, Fitna al Khwarij.
"During the conduct of operation, due to effective engagement by own troops seven Indian-sponsored khwarij were sent to hell, " the statement said.
However, during the intense fire exchange, Major Sibtain Haider (age: 30 years, resident of District Quetta), a brave officer who was leading his troops from the front, having fought gallantly, paid the ultimate sacrifice and embraced shahadat,”
“Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed khwarij, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against the Security Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) as well as killing of innocent civilians,” the statement said.
The military’s media wing added that Sanitization operation is being conducted to eliminate any other Indian sponsored Kharji found in the area.
“The security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of Indian Sponsored Terrorism from the country and such sacrifices of our brave sons further strengthen our resolve,” the ISPR said.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the courage and dedication of Pakistan’s security forces for successfully conducting operation against Fitna-al-Khawarij terrorists in DI Khan, which led to the elimination of seven militants.
In their separate messages, the president and the premier paid glowing tributes to Major Sibtain Haider, who embraced martyrdom after fighting valiantly during the operation and foiling the enemy’s malicious intentions.
President Zardari described Major Sibtain’s sacrifice as “a great example by sacrificing his life in defence of the country,” and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the martyred officer’s family.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lauded the tireless efforts of the armed forces, stating that “the brave officers and soldiers of the Pakistan Armed Forces were working day and night to safeguard the country.”
He said, “The entire nation, including myself, is proud of the courage and dedication of our armed forces,” reaffirming the government’s unwavering resolve to continue the fight until terrorism is completely eradicated from Pakistan.
PM Shehbaz added that the people of Pakistan “stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the armed forces in their unwavering commitment to defend the homeland.”
